Spotlight | What’s in store music Interview
Nadel Paris has made a name for herself in the EDM world as a multi-talented singer-songwriter, musician and producer. Her single, “Ooh La La La” is No. 19 on our current chart and No. 26 on the new “The Dance Environment” chart. She has a way of connecting with her fans through both her songwriting and her performances and we’re thrilled to be working with Nadel!
Music formats evolve over time. How has the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) landscape changed and where do you see it heading?
EDM is now crossing over to pop, I believe. It’s been like that in Europe, where an EDM artist, from what I understand is considered as a pop artist. I’d love to cross over the pop myself. You get to be more radio friendly. Like my Ooh La La La la remixes, now have a pop remix, which apparently KIIS FM likes, along with other Top 40 stations. courtesy of Michael Sutton. I am apparently crossing over the Rhythmic stations, as well!! And that makes me feel a bit established as a singer, LOL! I am so grateful for that, because I love R&B so, so much! Rap also.
What career accomplishments make you most proud?
That I can sing for an audience and make them happy. The interaction with other human beings, has to be at a soul level. You sing from the heart you receive back from the same place. It’s all about love.
You go way back with producer DJ M … tell us about your history and what you love about working together.
DJ. M and I have the same musical sensitivity. We think and hear alike. Also, our work ethics are very similar. What I mean by that is that none of us takes a day off. We both have power jobs, and do business, and we work all the time, as music is another full time job.
Your music conveys strong social messages that evoke compassion and intelligent conversations. What message do you think resonates most with your fans?
You formulated this question so kindly, thank you! I think that people get that I come from a genuine exchange with the fans. This whole thing about “sexy” Nadel is a myth, by the way. I do like sexy lyrics, though.
But sex, is just what it is. Everybody seeks a strong connection with ONE human being. No matter what I do, I want to give something to other people, which can help them enjoy the moment we spend together, and forget stuff which may not always empower them. The key is universal love. being at stand for other human beings is always my goal.
If you can go back in time, what artist(s) would you like to collaborate with?
Janis Joplin. I would do a duet with her. It would be so rock n’ roll, soulful, and crazy! I would also sit with her and tell her who she really is. Explain to her about her anger, and why she deserves to be happy and doesn’t need to numb anything about life, because she can create hers exactly the way she wants it to be. She’d still be around, doing great things for children! She’s be like 75 or something, looking amazing like Cher!
Finally, a shameless plug: What would you like people to know about you?
That I genuinely love to sing and perform. I love to produce and empower other performers, too.
None of it is about making big bucks or fame. Of course, we all want love, LOL! But the journey which I wish for myself is being able to share the craft, anyway I can.
